Stamp Club
A fine hobby which gives a great deal of personal pleasure is stamp
collecting. In order to provide an opportunity for meeting to discuss
and display new stamp issues, a Stamp Club was formed several years ago.
The members also are able to exchange stamps at the meetings, and are planning
to set up a display in one of the show-cases on the main floor. The fourteen
members agree that this hobby is one which can aid a student to improve
his understanding of geography and world history.

Sewing Club
"The Sewing Circle," under the direction of Mrs. Betty Kearney,
is made up of some fifteen ninth grade girls. The girls, some of whom have
had clothing experience, while others are novices, derive a great deal
of pleasure from stitching and chatting, as well as increasing their wardrobe
with the latest fashions. The girls in the Sewing Circle were of service
to the school by assisting in the designing and sewing of the costumes
for "Magic Flute" and sewing on patches for members of the A. V. A.

Calligraphy Club
Reaching into the past, the six members of our new Calligraphy Club
have been learning the use of the broad-edged pen, one of man's ancient
writing instruments. The mastery of this pen and a knowledge of historic
writing styles help form a taste for good design in writing and lettering.
For each member to develop this design sense and to awaken this sense
in other students is the aim of the club. Since the first meeting
in January, some members have already become skillful in writing the Renaissance's
Chancery Curive, selected as a beginning script by Mr. Wasco, the club's
spornsor.
