Bergenfield High School'sFootball team which defeated Dumont High School for the first time in history, is pictured with Coach Charles Baker. The Mighty Mites beat the Huckies on the Dumont gridiron, 33 to 7 and a victory parade of some 400 high school students marched down Washington Avenue from Dumont to Bergenfield. Climaxed the 1949 season tor the Mites. The cup held by the Drakeford brothers, was given in 1941 by the Dumont Alumni Association to remain in possession of the winner of the Bergenfield-Dumont contest untill the team loses. It is the first time Bergenfield as gain possession. The Mighty Mites won seven games this season and lost one game to Bogota High School, 32 to 26. Pictured, left to right.
